FAQs

Is platinum the best metal for engagement rings?

Platinum is an incredibly durable and hard-wearing metal making it a great choice for an engagement ring to be worn every day.

Unlike its yellow gold and rose gold counterparts, platinum has the highest purity level, as it is naturally strong and light in colour. However, this means platinum can be a more expensive option for your engagement ring. Platinum is heavier than gold, although currently less expensive per gram it will weigh more than the white gold counterpart.

If you are unsure which material is the best option for you, our goldsmiths are on hand to advise and guide you. Make your no-obligation appointment today.

What stones look best with platinum engagement bands?

Due to the incredibly versatile nature and the neutral pallet of a platinum ring, they can compliment all diamonds and gemstones. The naturally light appearance of a platinum ring works well in contrast with deeper shades of blue sapphire and bold rubies, equally, platinum enhances the fair blush shades of sapphires such as lighter hues of pink, peach and yellow too. As platinum is a very hard metal, we would only advise on using incredibly durable gemstones, like sapphires.

Paired with our collection of diamonds, diamond platinum rings are both traditional and elegant. Platinum together with gemstones offers an alluring and unique engagement ring.

Are platinum diamond engagement rings the most popular option today?

Demand for platinum rings have increased significantly over time, making them one of the most popular choices today - and it is clear to see why.

Alongside their visually impressive appearance, platinum engagement rings have become an increasingly popular choice for several reasons. They are durable in composition, low maintenance in terms of upkeep of their appearance, and due to their light, natural colour, they are versatile in complimenting skin tones, and fellow jewellery- including wedding bands.
