FAQs
How do I choose the best wedding ring to suit my engagement ring?
Our team of specialists are on hand to guide and advise on the best fit of wedding band to sit alongside your engagement ring. Whilst there is no right or wrong, traditionally the metal of your engagement ring would match that of your wedding band, however, if you like to mix white and yellow gold jewellery the choice is completely yours.
Key factors to consider are in line with the size, cut and style of your engagement ring, this can influence how the rings will sit side-by-side and whether the centre gemstones or diamonds are raised or low on your engagement ring. This will then determine whether your wedding ring will sit slightly underneath or whether there will be a small gap between the two, which is an increasingly popular choice.
Take a look for yourself and book a no-obligation consultation at our Hatton Garden Jewellers Showroom, London, so you can try and decide on the best wedding ring and engagement ring combination for you.
Can wedding bands be resized?
We use platinum and gold for our wedding rings at Holts Gems, which means they can be resized seamlessly to ensure the perfect fit. However, wedding bands can only be resized if they are a plain, if you choose an eternity band or one with intricate details then resizing would affect the style of the ring - and therefore is not always possible.
When visiting our Hatton Garden showroom, we will ensure the perfect ring size is determined on your visit, with longevity and comfort in mind, to avoid any unnecessary alterations in the future.
What is the history and tradition of wedding bands?
Wedding rings symbolise the promise of eternal love between two parties. The concept of a wedding ring dates back many years, believed to be as early as ancient Greek times. Whilst over the years wedding rings have been associated with varying connotations they are all based around love, commitment and fidelity.
The style of rings has evolved over many centuries too, from raw cut metal bands in ancient generations, to medieval times where they embedded precious gemstones. Through the evolution of the wedding band, we now have the stunning styles which are popular today.
Can you use an eternity ring in place of a wedding band?
The symbolic meaning of an eternity ring is that of enduring love and commitment, which makes them a perfect choice for a wedding ring. Set on platinum or gold with a band of melee diamonds, eternity rings are a stunning way of commemorating your love.
