Sies Marjan: choose a bold ruby engagement ring

With a Dutch creative director at the helm, New York based Sies Marjan certainly benefits from the Northern European design flare that is behind so many of this moment’s fashion houses.

The collection featured wondrous jewel tones, from deep blues to bright, bold reds and silky, emerald greens. The lustrous, silky textures akin to the shine of a strongly coloured gemstones, the obvious pairing with Sies Marjan is an emerald, sapphire or ruby engagement ring - the bolder the colour, the better. Whilst Sies Marjan made use of colour blocking for most looks, we love the clashing shades of bright red lips and accessories with pale pink ensembles - how about a trilogy engagement ring with a ruby centre stone and pink sapphire side stones?

Deveaux New York: choose a subtle, rose gold engagement ring

Proving neutral tones and minimalist shapes still have their place, Deveaux New York put together the comfy clothing ensembles of dreams. The show’s earthy tones evoked warmth and cosiness, so choose jewellery that does the same - consider the sandy, warm shade of rose gold. A solitaire setting is the perfect choice for those who seek beauty in simplicity.

Raisa Vanessa: choose a marshmallow-y pink sapphire engagement ring

Raisa Vanessa was a vision of everything pretty, pastel and pink. The soft tones of tutu-like textures were paired with bright, sparkly jewellery - including ‘door knocker’ style earrings embellished with diamante detailing. See also Edgii - pink, marshmallow-y, dream-like ensembles were big this NYFW. Our engagement ring recommendation is something unashamedly feminine - soft pink, purple and peach toned sapphires set in platinum or rose gold. Whimsical and wonderful.

AREA: choose yellow gold stacking rings for an alternative engagement ring

Not exactly your average ‘ready to wear’ collection, the styling at AREA was a little bonkers, but boy did they boss accessories - the theme? Yellow gold, and plenty of it. Models were draped in gold chains from head to toe, proving the versatility of gold to flatter and stand out on each and every skin tone. If you’re the type to layer up your necklaces and stack your rings sky high, this is the look for you. Instead of a traditional engagement ring, you may want to consider stacking rings in the style of eternity rings - mix up diamond set and plain yellow gold bands for a seriously cool bridal set.

Maki Oh: choose a 70s inspired, earth-toned gemstone

Needless to say, it can be a good idea to start planning for the cost of your engagement ring at least a few months prior to purchasing. At Holts Gems, you won’t pay the full cost of your ring until it is ready to collect or ship. After paying a deposit to get your ring into the workshop, it is up to you whether you’d like to pay off the full amount in instalments or the remaining balance when you receive the ring - as long as the full amount has been paid when you receive the ring. We usually take between 2 and 4 weeks to craft each engagement ring, but if you need a little longer, we’re able to keep your ring in our safes until you’re ready to pay.
